October 2026: IRCC Relaunches the Application Status Tracker
IRCC has relaunched its Application Status Tracker. On the official Application Status Tracker page, last modified October 20, 2026, the department states that the tool is available again for eligible applicants. You can use it only after you receive an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR). The information in your account is updated daily.
The tracker supports a defined list of applications. It does not cover every IRCC file. If your application type is not on the list, use the other status tools IRCC publishes.
Who can use it
You need an AOR first. Without that confirmation that IRCC has received your application, the tracker will not work. Wait for the AOR email or letter.
The tool is available to:
- The principal applicant (including people being sponsored)
- A sponsor
- Representatives
- Designated individuals acting with written consent
You sign in with a trusted partner such as your bank or with a GCKey username and password.
Supported application types
IRCC lists these applications as supported right now:
- Sponsorship of a spouse, partner, or dependent child
- Express Entry, including:
- Canadian Experience Class
- Provincial Nominee Program
- Federal Skilled Workers Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Study permit
- Work permit
- Visitor visa (temporary resident visa)
For other application types, IRCC directs you to alternative status-checking methods on its how to check your application status page.
What the relaunch means for you
If you have already received an AOR for one of the supported applications, you can now check status through this dedicated tracker instead of relying only on periodic emails or the main online account. Daily updates give a more current view than waiting for the next correspondence.
The tool does not replace official decisions. It shows progress on your file. Final outcomes still come through formal IRCC notices. Login issues can occur; IRCC notes that if you have trouble accessing the tracker, other status methods remain available.
This relaunch follows a period when the previous version was offline. An IRCC transparency document confirms the earlier tool was taken offline on May 14, 2026. The current page confirms the relaunch and lists the supported types and requirements.
Existing posts on Express Entry draws, study permit funds, and processing times do not cover how to check live status on an in-progress file after AOR. This post focuses only on the tracker relaunch and the official requirements.
If you are waiting on an Express Entry, study permit, work permit, visitor visa, or spouse sponsorship file and have an AOR, sign in to the tracker using the official page. Confirm the current supported list before you rely on it.
If you need help understanding your status update or preparing next steps after an AOR, contact JSR Immigration & Legals through our consultation page or the relevant service pages.
