Express Entry Pool at 229,456 Candidates: Where You Stand Before November 3
IRCC has posted its latest Express Entry pool breakdown. On the official rounds of invitations page, retrieved on October 26, 2026, the department publishes the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score distribution of candidates in the pool as of October 12, 2026. The pool holds 229,456 candidates. The largest single band, 451 to 500, holds 71,612 of them.
The snapshot is a few days old by design. IRCC publishes the distribution shortly before a round and states that the numbers change as people submit new profiles and other profiles expire. The date that matters for the table is the snapshot date, October 12, not the day you read it. Your own score does not expire with the table, but your position in the queue does shift with every profile that enters or leaves the pool.
This snapshot lands one week before the November 3, 2026 CRS change. Our earlier posts covered the new high-wage points and the 186-code occupation list. This post covers the pool you will compete in once those points are switched on.
The official distribution table
The numbers below are copied from the official table, current as of October 12, 2026.
| CRS score range | Number of candidates |
|---|---|
| 601 to 1200 | 749 |
| 501 to 600 | 21,638 |
| 451 to 500 | 71,612 |
| 401 to 450 | 63,528 |
| 351 to 400 | 47,167 |
| 301 to 350 | 17,123 |
| 0 to 300 | 7,639 |
| Total | 229,456 |
The page also breaks the two largest mid-range bands into ten-point rows. Inside 451 to 500: 491 to 500 holds 12,136, 481 to 490 holds 12,184, 471 to 480 holds 16,220, 461 to 470 holds 16,221, and 451 to 460 holds 14,851.
What the bands tell you
- 601 to 1200 is a near-guaranteed zone. Only 749 candidates sit here. Most hold a provincial nomination (600 points on its own) or a strong arranged employment claim.
- 501 to 600 is competitive but thin. At 21,638 candidates, this band is smaller than the two bands below it. Recent Canadian Experience Class rounds in 2026 have cut in the low 500s, as our draw tracker shows.
- 451 to 500 is the crowded middle. With 71,612 candidates, this band alone holds nearly a third of the pool. Candidates here generally need a category-based round, a nomination, or the new high-wage points to get ahead of a general cut-off.
- 401 to 450 and below is a long game. More than 135,000 candidates sit at 450 or below. For most, a provincial nomination or French-language points remain the realistic paths to an invitation.
The November 3 recalculation
On November 3, 2026 IRCC adds the new Labour Market Integration factor. Every profile in the pool is recalculated, and invitation rounds pause while that happens. IRCC has said the recalculation can take up to two weeks.
That recalculation will move this table. Candidates with at least 12 months of qualifying Canadian experience in a listed high-wage occupation can gain 20, 40, or 70 points automatically. Candidates with a qualifying job offer can gain 50, 70, or 100 points, but only if the offer is recorded in the profile before November 3.
What to do this week
- Find your band in the official table. Do not rely on a score calculated months ago; profiles lose points when language tests or job-offer details expire.
- If your National Occupational Classification code is on the high-wage list, expect an automatic recalculation. You do not need to act for work-experience points.
- If you hold a qualifying job offer, update your profile before November 3, 2026. Offer points do not apply themselves.
- If your score sits below the recent cut-offs, assess the category-based rounds and provincial options on our Express Entry service page before the pause, not after.
The filing date of your profile does not control your position. The pool on the date of the round does. That is why IRCC publishes this table before each round: it is the closest thing to a live scoreboard the system offers.
